Bottle shared at kermis's, thanks Chris. Pours dark brown, almost black pour with off white foam. Nice creamy soft nose, some roast there bit also a bit vinious, even creamy a bit. Coffee coming out more in the taste. Taste is creamy, hint of roastiness, pretty smooth and has some light berries in the background. Really well balanced and totally enjoyable.
Bottle shared. Black with a ring tan head. Aroma of big espresso, dark chocolate, toffee, fudge, roast and caramel. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.
Reddish tinted deep dark brown beer with a medium to good tan-cream head, lacerings. Coffee², mocha, Haagse Hopjes, sweetish smelling and vey roasted, bonfire. Cold, seriously sweetened coffee, again coffee sweets as Hopjes, caramel. Bit of vanilla, rather sweet and not very powerfully intense flavours. Gradually, a typical coffeedrab bitterness builds up. Good carbonation. Feels strangely light for a 12% strong ale; impression of being only medium bodied. Very light alcoholwarming. Bit disappointing. Le ramage ne vaut pas vraiment le plumage.
Bottle shared at deanso’s. Very dark brown pour with a thin tan head. Notes of milk chocolate, rye bourbon/whiskey, honey, milk coffee, dark cherries. Not as bitter as the normal version, and with just a hint of extra coffee (wouldn’t have noticed it if it wasn’t on the label).
Wednesday tasting at deanso’s. Black with tan head. Big roasted chocolate malts, nice espresso roast, light sour pure berries and deep roasted at the same time. Medium sweet and bitter. Full body, soft carbonation. Big mocha feel. Nice.
50cl bottle shared. Thin ring tan head. Clear black pour. Lots of coffee. Very good.
Bottle shared thanks to mariuspoenari. Mahogany with beige head. Lots of honey, flowers, toffee, some coffee beans are there but not very up front, sweet malts, some milk chocolate, bitter herbs, light booze in the finish. Quite sweet and over medium bitter. Almost full bodied.
Bottle thanks to Rainer. Pours black with beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong roast coffee, dark chocolate, wood, vanilla. Thick, chewy, roast, cocoa, wood, bitter finish, very good.
Bottle @ weekly tasting shared by Abijen. Opaque dark brown to black color, small to average sized off-white to beige head. Smell and taste malts, coffee, slightly sweetish as well, nice bitterness. Decent, but not as good as I had expected.
Bottle @ joes. Dark brown colour with a small off-white head. Smells appelstroop, roasty, chocolate. Tastes chocolate, roasty, coffee. Full body, soft carbo.
