Heather Gruit

It is said that, many years ago, the farmers of Scotland carried torches of burning heather around their farms before midsummer to insure healthy crops and fertile cattle. In modern mysticism, burning heather is said to bring rain. This gruit was inspired by those shimmering beacons parading about the farmland and was brewed traditionally with herbs in place of hops. Blazing red in color and steeped with good intentions, billowing soft notes of smoke and fragrant heather.

Draft at The Hop Shop as Beacon Heather Gruit. At first I thought it said Bacon, so I dodged that bullet. Hazy to cloudy golden color. Nice herbal and floral aroma. Taste is lightly spiced and lightly bitter. One of the better gruits I've had.
