Lovely dark orange, with some sparkling carbonation and white foam. Smells lactic sour, lots of cherries. Taste is nicely sour, close to puckering, but the sweet cherries balance is out. Plenty of vinous notes from the barrel, not much vanilla. Damn good.
375ml bottle. 7.6%. Orangey-reddish deep amber colour, white foam head leaving lacing and aroma of funky mellow fruity with cherry & vanilla. Taste is sour, cherry, woody, oak barrel, funky, lemon rind, vanilla. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry tart sour finish. Nicely drinkable.
Bouteille 375ml, gracieuseté de msjpearson, Thanks Mike! Couleur rouge cerise trouble, mousse blanc cassé fugace. Arôme de cerise, boisé, pointe de vanille, fleur de cerisier, levures. Goût de cerise, boisé, acidité élevée, levures, vanille. Carbonatation moyenne-élevée, corps moyen-dense.
375ml bottle. Pours brown red. Cherry, vanilla, raspberry, lemon juice, white wine, tart, apricot. Nice body. Very very good.
Tap at St. Augustine's. Cloudy salmon pinnk color with lace. Nose is lactic vanilla and yogurt, cherries and vinegar. rich malt, cherry goes with the barrel. A bit acetic.
Sample at Brewvival. Hazy pinkish red color, off white head. Sour cherry and lemon aroma. Taste has tart cherry, tart lemon, dry finish.
Bottle - Light vanilla and cherry. Clear copper with a small white head. Light vanilla and tart cherry with a touch of acid. The vanilla doesn’t improve it much.
Pours pink red, quite flat without much foam. Aroma is acidic and yes also has some vanilla. Together with sour fruits the can easily be cherries. Taste is also tart and sour, acidity is hiding vanilla a bit, but not enough, it’s still there. Cherries are sour and that sourness really is cutting through all other taste sensations I had before drinking this. Excellent one.
Hazy reddish brown color. Massive big cherry nose with oak in the background. Crisp, dry mouth, that is very tart, lots of cherries, but not as pronounced as in the nose. Very tart, but lacks depth for the style. I like it but doesn’t deserve the high rating.
375 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 5/16/2016. Pours slightly hazy deep reddish copper color with a 1 finger dense light pink head with good retention, that reduces to a ring of lace that lingers. Minimal lacing on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big tart/sour cherries, cherry skin, raspberry, cranberry, lemon, green apple, red grape, almond, vanilla, oak, hay, straw, leather, red wine vinegar, light bread, and yeast/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, vanilla/cherries, and wine barrel notes; with great strength. Taste of huge tart/sour cherries, cherry skin, raspberry, cranberry, lemon, green apple, red grape, almond, vanilla, oak, hay, straw, leather, red wine vinegar, light bread, and yeast/oak earthiness. Large amount of fruity/acidic sourness on the finish; with lingering notes of sour cherries, cherry skin, raspberry, cranberry, lemon, green apple, red grape, almond, vanilla, oak, hay, straw, leather, red wine vinegar, and yeast/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, vanilla/cherries, and wine barrel flavors; with a nice malt/sourness balance, and no astringent flavors after the finish. Very dry from acidity/sourness, and moderately puckering. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, acidic/tannic, and lightly grainy mouthfeel that is nice. Minimal warming alcohol for 7.5%. Overall this is an outstanding fruited sour ale! All around awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of fruity/funky/acidic yeast, vanilla/cherries, and wine barrel flavors; very smooth and easy to drink, despite the high level of acidity/sourness. A highly enjoyable offering.
