Bottle. Deep brown colour with a beigeish brown foamy/creamy long-lasting head, which leaves some lace. Aroma is roasted malts, some smoked wet wooden tones with mild liquorice, alcohol and some toasted ryebready elements too. Flavour is roasted and smoked with some sweet caramel, toasted ryebread and mild wooden bitterness in the finish. Solid, with a good depth to it.
Bottle - Raoated malts, touch manure and pine, deep brown with a small light brown head. Bitter, liquorice, chocolate and a nice bitter finish. Complex and quite nice.

355ml bottle @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Pours very dark, medium foamy tan head. Aroma of leafy herbal pine. Taste is pretty interesting. The pine seems to work in tandem with the smoked lightly peaty, woody element, underpinned by some herbal moments. Good clarity of flavours. An interesting take on a Black IPA that actually works.

Bottle at home. Clear mahogany pour with a tall tan head with good retention. Very nice aroma of pine resin, dark chocolate, roasted malts, toffee, milk chocolate. The taste follows the same notes, nicely balanced between dank hop bitterness, roastiness, dark chocolate bitterness, saltiness and sweetness. The smoke is present, but, like the other components, nicely blended in. Medium body and carbonation and a roasty bitter-sweet and slightly salty finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Stillwater Readymade - Vacuum on 09 Nov 2016 at 16:28 - Score: 8
