330 ml bottle as 4 Granen Bokbier. Pours dark brown with beige creamy head. Dark chocolate, smoke, burnt malts, roasted bread crumps, raisins. Medium bitterness and malty sweetness; very balanced taste. Creamy to watery texture, full bodied, dry malty finish, soft carbonated. Good and not too heavy Bockbier.
At Café De Zwaan, Maastricht. Shared with Anke.
Labeled 'Jopen Bok 2017' on the blackboard. Pours hazy dark brown with a foamy, tan head. The aroma contains yeast, caramel, some iron, hops, light roasted malt, hint of dark fruits. It tastes medium caramel-like sweet and light hoppy bitter; sweetish, short finish. Light body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Less convincing in aroma and lacking some punch compared to the Bock of the house at De Zwaan.
Bottle. Color: Dark brown, thin off-white head. Taste: Roasted malt, notes of brown sugar, caramel. Hints of nuts, raisins. Above medium body, average carbonation. Nice bokbier.
