Clear loght amber color. Aroma of vanilla and cocoa. Taste is boozy caramel. Light body.
12 oz bottle from De Bierkoning @ home. Twist off cap exploded from the bottle as I twisted it off, hitting a glass out of my spectacles, luckily I was wearing them or I would have missed an eye. Not gushing though. Deep red-brown color, clear. Big uneven beige head with good retention, sticking to the glass. Aroma’s of bourbon, vanilla, red fruits, light wood, sweet malts. Retronasal it’s sweet, red fruits, some bourbon/vanilla. Flavor is moderate to full sweet, vanilla. Light to medium bodied. A bit high carbo. Finishes with a bit of roasted malts, just hints of bitterness. Imo bourbon usually goes better with the higher strength beers, this was actually well done and went down well as a dessert.
Bottle. Oaky bourbon and malt aroma. Clear chestnut with a small tan head. Nutty, brown sugar malt, bourbon/oak, and vanilla flavor with a light bitter finish. Full smooth body. I’ve been getting a little tired of the proliferation of big boozy bourbon barrel brews, and really enjoyed this lighter take on bourbon barrel aging.
Bottle. Sour chocolate malt with a hint of bourbon. Chestnut color with with large tan head. Slightly sweet chocolate malt and moderately bitter herbal hops flavor. Nice malty aftertaste.
Bottle @ home, courtesy of foppa78. Thanks Mat! Dark brown appearance with a light brown head that dissipates fairly quickly. Quite toasty brown malty, moderate to heavy nuttiness (hazelnuts), caramel, toffee, very mild bourbon aroma. Toffee, nutty, toasty, brown malty, caramel, chocolate, very weak bourbon flavor. Excellent beer, though the bourbon elements are very mild.
Bottle thanks to Msante79. Pours purplish brown with tan head. Nose of bubblegum, oak, malts, nuts and hops. Taste is oak, nuts, some odd fruits, caramel malts and chocolate.
bottle thanks to madvike! Pours brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is sweet maple syrup, vanilla, and chocolate. Flavor is rich chocolate and biscuit malt with a touch of bourbon and lots of sweet vanilla. This is a great session brown!
Bottled@Monks Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Ruby red colour with small off-white head. Aroma is red fruits, some bourbon barrel, mild chocolate as well as some slight old coffee and nuts. Flavour is quite much the same along with plum/raisins and some slight toasted notes.
Bottled at Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm. Clear reddish brown, small head. Mild chocolatey bourbon aroma. Sweet with mdium body. Vanilla with chocolate and whipped cream. Low bitterness. A small beer with big flavours.
Bottle. Clear brown body with a short off-white head, mostly diminishing. Malty, woody aroma of caramel, toast, oak, bourbon, vanilla and nuts with hints of chocolate and wet paper. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes of bourbon and barrel. Medium body, water texture and lively carbonation. I am not a big fan of brown ales, but this ale, with its touch of bourbon barrel, is very good. I’d buy more.
