Not just another boring wheat ale. We made Contact High, our spring and summer seasonal, exciting by adding copious amounts of pacific northwest hops and dry hopping with fresh orange zest. Contact High pours a bright orange hue with a big citrus aroma.

12 ounce can into pint glass, best before 8/28/2017. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy pale golden yellow color with a 1 finger fairly dense and fluffy white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper/pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/fruity hops, orange zest, and moderate pale/wheat malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, light pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, herbal, and floral/grassy earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/rind, herbal, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, mango, melon, citrus peel/rind, pepper, pine, wheat, cracker, white bread, and herbal/floral/grassy earthiness on the finish for a while. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, orange zest, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance; and zero lingering hop/zest astringency after the finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness. Medium carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately crisp, bready/grainy/sticky, and slightly resinous balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very nice hoppy American pale wheat ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/fruity hops, orange zest, and moderate pale/wheat malt flavors; very smooth, crisp, and refreshing to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Great balance of vibrant/dank hops and citrus zest; with a nice pale/wheat malt backbone, and minimal residual sweetness. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example. Not overly hoppy or bitter.

8/IX/14 - 1Pt. 6Fl. Oz. bottle @ home - BB or bottle date: V/21/14 (2014-972) Thanks to Fem for the bottle!

Clear bright orange beer, small aery to creamy head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, floral, honey, orange peel, bit sugary, marzipan. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: lots of orange peel, some citrus, bit sweet, pretty hoppy, floral, spicy touch. Aftertaste: orange lemonade, sweet impression although fairly bitter, citric hops, bit floral, way too much orange peel. No balance at all.

Draft - Orange, wheat and a bit of sweetness. Clear gold with a decent white head. Orange, sweet wheat with a citrus hop bite. Lots of orange but well done. Can - Much more orange peel and sweeter. Much prefer draft.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of jcnielsen. Thanks Justin! Pours a bit hazy, golden yellow appearance with a fluffy, off white head. Quite spicy, potpourri floral hoppy, a bit zippy citrusy, chewy wheat aroma. Spicy yeasty, lemon pepper, big potpourri hoppy, orange zest flavor. Pretty good but definitely not a 100th percentile wheat ale.
