Dégustée à l'automne 2015 (De mes notes). Merci MAM. .
Bottle thanks to Don. Pours a cloudy brown with medium frothy beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong citrus, pine, spruce. Medium mouth, nice bitter hop bite, pine, grapefruit, light caramel in finish, very nice.
Bottle. Cloudy copper red with large spongy beige head, floral hops aroma, medium carbonation, hoppy taste, long finish. A very hoppy beer.
Got in a BIF from ZebraCakez. 500 ml bottle into tulip glass, bottled on 11/4/2014. Pours hazy deep ruby red color with a 2 finger dense and fluffy light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings around the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, caramel, toast, brown sugar, light toffee, and floral/grassy earthiness. Very nice aromas with good complexity and balance of big citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, pine, caramel, toast, brown sugar, light toffee, and floral/toasted earthiness. Fair amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange zest, pine, caramel, toast, brown sugar, light toffee, and floral/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity and robustness of citrus/tropical hops and dark/bready malt flavors; with a good malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly creamy, and lightly sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice red ale. All around good complexity, balance, and robustness of bright citrus/tropical hops and moderate dark/bready malt sweetness; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A very enjoyable offering.
Bottle at WF Columbus Circle. Deep reddish-brown, cloudy, high foamy head. Great nose, caramel, pine, earth, cinnamon, orange. Very hoppy falvor, great citrus, pine caramel. Perfect balance. Prickly, small carbonation. Peppery, spicy finish. Great as usual from Maine.
Dark brown. Murky nice head fades fast. Nose is bitter with lemon and cloves. Taste is a minor sweetness. Lots of tangerine with cinnamon and apples. Peppery finish.
Location: 500 ml bottle from Buy Rite, 12/12/13
Aroma: The nose is full of resiny hops, with caramel, bready malts, and some grains
Appearance: It pours a dark reddish color with a thick beige head and heavy lacework
Flavor: The taste is hop forward as well, nice flavor, not quite up to the level of the nose
Palate: The body is medium, creamy and easy drinking, smooth feel, goes down quick
Overall Impression: This is a very solid hoppy red. Not quite as good as some of the best Maine offerings, but very very solid.
Bottle. Cloudy brownish black color, massive beige head. Aroma is....wow! Fresh hay and floral grass. Taste is sweet, hoppy and balanced. Delicious.
Bottle @ Greg’s palace, courtesy of JBPortland. Thanks Josh! Pours a hazy dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Spicy, grapefruity/orange citrusy, light bubblegum, caramel, light resiny aroma. Toasted, burnt caramel malty, piney, a bit dank, citrusy flavor with a touch of roast and chocolate. A bit chewy. Solid but nothing special.
