33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ Edrinks, Eindhoven. Clear dark brown with an off-white head. Hoppy aroma and loads of caramel, raisins and some licorice. Sweet taste with a sweet boozy finish. Reminds me a bit of the Ongelovige Thomas which has a similar caramel and hops combo in my opinion. Great beer.
26/III/20 - 33cl bottle from Geers (Oostakker), shared @ home, BB: n/a, bottled: 10/V/17 (2020-280)
Little hazy red brown beer, big solid creamy bit irregular beige head, stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit oxidized, alcohol, bit malty. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: very malty, alcohol, milk chocolate, moderate sweetness, bit hoppy, gentle roast. Aftertaste: caramel, some ripe banana, bitter hops, alcohol, nice, very warming, raisins, sugary, good!
Oh, this is good! Bottle. Dark brown color. malt, dried fruit, berries and oily hops in the aroma. malty sweetish, medium bodied. Oily hops. Grass, dried berry fruit. Slightly alcoholic. Very tasty.
Bottle from Dranken Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy dark brown with a lasting, thick, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of orange peel, red apple, dates, brioche, caramel, almond, pink grapefruit, pear. Taste is medium malty sweet, caramelly & biscuity with fruity notes of apple, pear, fig, dates, bitter hoppy middle of grapefruit & orange peel, a bit herbal with a sourish undercurrent. Dryish, herbal, almost a tad piney hoppy finish, lingering biscuit, bitter fruit rinds & warming liqueur alcohol. Medium body, creamy texture, soft carbonation. Very nice, almost Black IPA-ish at times, but Barley Wine character prevails.
10E17. Bittersweet, with a good dose of hops. Not the freshest, so some of the aromas will have lessened. Not like most barleywines, more bitter, but still not something I go out of my way for. Very thin. Not bad, not great.
