Bottle thanks to bursprak. Pours darkish brown with a small offwhite head. Aromas of whiskey, peat, dark fruits, jam, ash, chocolate. Taste has rye bread, light peat, licorice, malt, chocolate, whiskey. Honestly not way as bad as I would’ve thought haha.
Bottle. dark brown color. Licorice, grassy notes, citrus, licorice and peat in the aroma. Peated whisky dominates the flavor, leaving little room for the remaining hops. Warming alcohol. Really delicious beer, but with some doubts about the balance.
Black with beige froth. Aroma has piney hops, smoke, some licorice notes. Earthy, smoky flavour. Caramely sweetness. Mild peaty notes, light iodine. Slightly boozy whisky. Nice.
33 cl bottle @ home. Black color. Beige head with a thin blanket retention. Aroma’s: a bit roasty, umami, a bit strange, light wood. Retronasal there’s more wood, sweetness, roast, drop. Flavor is moderate sweet with light vinous sourness. Alcoholfeel is rather sharp and hot. Above medium bodied. Roasty bitterish finish. Interesting, but I don’t get any peat, maybe it’s too old already?
Der malzige, leicht hopfige Antrunk gefällt. Mild würzig herb, erkennbarer, nicht störender Alkohol. Spritzig, sehr trocken werdend. Harmonisch, die süße Malzigkeit wird durch den Hopfen kompensiert. Er verschwindet dadurch komplett, das Malz ist dafür noch angenehm vorhanden. 11/9/10/10/9/10
bottle (from hetbiermoment.nl). Pours dark brown-black with brown head. The head stays. Aroma is peat, sweetness, dark chocolate, whisky. Flavor is sweet and bitter, roast, dark chocolate, malt, whisky, peat. Finish is long roast bitter with some whisky thrown in. Overall: very good, feels a lot like beer mixed with some nice whisky. Maybe a bit too much whisky/alcohol, but it’s less heavy than imp souts and works if you like nice beer-whisky mixes (I do).
0.33 l bottle from ’Hetbiermoment.nl’, best before June 2017. Pitch black with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, brown head. Roasty-malty, slightly peaty aroma of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, tar and some licorice. Sweetish, roasty-malty taste of dark chocolate, hard roasted coffee, burnt nuts, tar and licorice, followed by a long, heavily peaty, warming finish. Medium to full body, creamy to oily mouthfeel, flat. Very nice sipper, lots of peat, great mouthfeel, lacks a bit of complexity though.
330ml bottle, from trade with MonsterMagnet. Many thanks! Pours dark brown with a nice tan head. Aroma is light smoke and peat. Taste is smooth roasted malt, dark hop fruits and cocoa with a good integration of peat flavours. Liked this.
Tasting bij mij thuis. Alcohol overheerst een beetje maar daarachter ligt een mooie dijk aan donkere smaakjes. Bottle. Dark brown color with small beige head. Dark malt, peat, very light citrus hops in aroma. Taste, chocolate, roasted malt, oak, whisky, peat, very light citrus hops. Tasty, but there is no sense age Black IPA.
