Bottle. Color: Dark brown, beige head. Aroma: Peaty. Taste: Moderate to medium sweet malty, light sourish notes, bit boozy, starting nicely balanced with clearly present peat and iodine but becomes a bit unbalanced over time. Warming mouthfeel. Peaty malt finish with slightly irritating mouthfeel. light to moderate bitterness. Full body, below average carbonation. Without question one of the best Gulpener beers I've had so far.
Tasting @ Koelschtrinker's place. Smooth malty, whisky, deep and round. Lots of whisky, peated with a deep and malty peated whisky body. Easy to drink with lots of malt, peated malt, wood and grain.
Bottle at a Tasting at Koelschtrinker's place. A hazy orange brown beer. Aroma of strong peated malt, caramel, wood. Taste of strong peated malt, soft sourish malt, dried fruits, boozy.
Starker peated getreidiger Beginn. Geringe Süße, würzig malzig, wenig herb, intensiv. Süffig, angenehme Würzigkeit, langer Nachhall. Zu süß. 1 0/8/10/10/10/9
Sampled from 0.33 l bottle, bottled in August 2018. Clear, dark brownish amber with an off-white head. Sweetish-malty, slightly smoky aroma of caramel, peat, iodine and traces of prunes. Quite sweet, malty, moderately bitter, gently smoky taste of caramel, molasses, prunes, raisins, vanilla, peat and iodine, followed by a medium long, gently bitter, smoky-medicinal finish. Medium to full body, almost creamy mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!
