Om tap at Cafe Fiasco, Oslo. Pitch black with a nice, creamy beige head. Aroma of roasted malt, bourbon, dark chocolate, caramel and hints of wood and dark fruits. Dark and delicious! Still very sweet, but feels somehow much more balanced than the regular version. I somehow wasn’t too fond of the cherry version either, but this is pure black gold. Sweet, flavourful and delicious, feels like liquid candy and it’s surprisingly smooth too. Delicious! --- Beer merged from original tick of 1349 Black Ale - Bourbon Barrel on 24 Jul 2015 at 17:50 - Score: 8
From tap at Copenhagen Beer Celebration 2015, Blue session. Dark brown almost black color with beige brown head. Malty aroma, roasted, caramel, cookie - chocolate, fruity, wood, perfume notes. Sweet and bitter taste, chocolate and fruity. Medium oily body with soft carbonation.
On tap at Craft&Draft. Was sceptical at first, thought this was the regular version, but it oozes Bourbon. Black colour, beige head. Aroma is very sweet, sugary, light ashy, molasses, rye/pumpernickel, like a Baltic Porter, coffee & cream with sugar, lots of bourbon. Flavour is very sweet, bourbon, coffee with sugar, pumpernickel, some chocolate, roasted malts, fruits, bittersweet finish, some wood. Is this a lager? It says ale.. hm.. Full bodied. Too sweet imho, but it’s lush.
