We have chosen two barrels of Birth of Tragedy, an imperial porter brewed with organic cinnamon and honey, as the base for this single origin coffee experiment. After aging for 20 months in apple brandy barrels, we conditioned the beer atop Kochere coffee beans from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia, which were sourced and roasted by The Coffee Collective in Copenhagen, Denmark. These friends long ago changed our worldview as to what coffee could be.

Bottle. Pours black with medium beige head that lasts. The aroma is strong brandy, roasted malt, dark chocolate, wood, nuts. Slick body, roasted malt, vanilla, milk chocolate, oak, boozy finish, enjoyed this.

375ML Split 2 ways with AFH. Enjoyed at fridge temp but allowed to warm up.

A - Completely black. Huge cap pop when I opened it. small tiny bit of head formed. Looks very thick / dense in the glass, alcohol legs on the glass. Little bit of head forms.

S - This smells incredible. A little booze, a lot of fresh coffee, cherry pit, sweet aroma of liqueur. apple cinnamon.

T - mmmcmm. Oh man, this is pretty incredible. Booze is poignant but not demanding. The coffee is soft, velvety, cream, chocolate coffee cake, wow. No apple but lots of really soft and then commanding flavor. it’s sweet, smooth amazing.

M - Dense then soft with a sweet milk chocolate finish.

O - Well done! I want a keg.
