Keg at De Molen 2017 Friday... Dark red brown.. Thin white lacing.. Soft sweet funk berries fruit nose.. Soft juicy barnyard berries. Soft funk earthy fruit
One of this young sour ale maker’s best known products, sampled in the company of Tommie himself. Medium thick, moussy, off-pinkish head over a lightly hazy, deep ruby red beer with fuchsia-purplish hue. Aroma of indeed ’raw’ blue grape juice, wry grape skin and grape seeds, stale sweat, unsugared berry yoghurt, rainwater somewhere, fermenting plums, red wine vinegar. Very fruity onset, sharp fruit acidity actually more reminiscent of redcurrant, raw rhubarb and unripe blackberries than actual grapes, though a lot of grape peel and grape skin wryness is certainly there; moderately fizzy carbo, lightly bready undercurrent, drying lactic sourness throughout, fruit juice acidity remaining as well, drying sour finish with a light earthy touch and lots of grape peel impressions. Sharp, acidic, even a bit puckering and old wine vinegar-ish, I think this could be better with more softening grape sweetness amidst the sourness, but definitely a must for sourheads. Had better Tommie Sjef creations, though.
Clear red appearance with no head. Although tart it’s not overly sour. Fruity. Clean. I don’t particularly get it as grape but it’s nice.

19/VIII/17 - 75cl bottle @ Gents Bierfestival - BB: n/a (2017-1273) Thanks to the Belgian ratebeer crew for sharing today's beers and celebrating my 10K!
Clear pink beer, small creamy pinkish head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: bit fruity, funky touch, little dirty. MF: soft to no carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty sour, funky, dirty yeast taste, urine, some vinegar. Very unpleasant. Aftertaste: dead yeast, vinegar acidity, unpleasant bitterness. Nope, not a fan.
Bottle - Red fruit, red wine barrels and a touch of funk. Clear red. Nice red berry notes with a nice touch of acidity. Berry notes are intense, but well done with red grape.
