Tap at Craftheads. Very cloudy/hazy orange colour not much head. What can I say, it's full on grapefruit. Could probably tell that from the name. Real fruitiness rather than just a suggestion, like juice. Very bitter and nicely thirst quenching. Good for a hot day. Low carbonation, and almost has a real ale type feel about it. Nice.
Back after a few years hiatus it seems. Tap at Gremlin. Murky orange and gold with almost no head. Light white grapefruit forward nose with some piney hops. Clean, grapefruit flavor. Alcohol hidden well. Feels a little heavy, but nice and refreshing. Good fruit IPA with a hoppy bitter finish alongside some mild grapefruit pith. This is pretty nice. --- Beer merged from original tick of North Island Grapefruit IPA on 12 Aug 2016 at 20:41 - Score: 7. Original review text: Grapefruit nose with some light hippiness....lingering bitterness. Very refreshing.
Veery cloudy amber orange color. Moderately pungent grapefruity nose. Despite the look, the beer is solidly balanced, with an excellent malty backbone, but damn this is once of the most bitter citrusy beers I’ve ever had. Puckering. Fruit is well integrated. Bone dry. The more I drink the more I groove on this. Grapefruit lovers rejoice. I also don’t think I will get sick for a long time. Interesting stuff.
Draught at Craft Beer Base. Extremely refreshing summertime IPA, and the grapefruit blends wonderfully with the big, bitter citrus hops. Much nicer than the first time, more integrated and refined. 2009 Rating: 7/3/7/3/15: Pale Copper color with lace. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus hops, honey. Bitter-sour flavor combination is original and interesting. Nice malt underneath. Fruity, with lots of grapefruit, though not so sweet. Well done; just a bit strange.
