Bottle at home from the brewery webshop. Rich brown small golden thin head. Aroma is black treacle, bit of smoke and spice, roasty malt, some beefiness, bit of soy sauce, maybe some sweetness. Taste is similar. Quite full on, lots more black treacle taste, bit of caramel, some savoury bitterness, slightly meaty. Further down sweetness gets stronger. Lots of caramel. Sweet thick lingering finish. Nice but feels boozier than it is.

Tap at CBM Jimbocho in 2014. Dark, roasted malty nose with some caramel and prunes and light chocolate and smoke. Slight sticky mouthfeel, medium body. Finish is sweet with some light molasses.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Almost black with a tinge of red. Low tan head. Rich caramel and Munich malts, with dark fruits in the nose; quite sweet. Nice dark malt flavor, with a bit of tangy fruit. Sweet, with noticeable alcohol. Bitter, rather hoppy finish. Rather light in body, with low carbonation. A true bock—nicely made with good, rich malt.

Pours dark brown with ruby red highlights. Creamy tan head. Aroma of toasted malts, spice, molasses, and alcohol. Flavor was roasted, smokey malts, cocoa, bread, dark fruits, molasses, and brown sugar. Delicious. Finished with nice bittersweet chocolate/molasses, and kinda dry. Tasty as it gets. Well balanced and complex. Full, creamy body. Enjoyed this greatly, will pick up again and again.

Dark brown color, light brown creamy head. Looks marvelous. Puffed wheat, molasses and caramel notes in the nose, but somewhat subdued. Then the mouth..... molasses, brown sugar, dark chocolate, dark cherries, burnt raisins. Very malty and very rich. This is a dark bock lovers paradise. Very malty. Full caccoa, molasses, dark cherry finish. Yum. Had just before Avery 13 and that looked pretty average compared to this.
