The unmistakable characteristics of this Bavarian Weissbier are achieved with a yeast that is decidedly fruity and phenolic. You may note clove, nutmeg or even vanilla and/or banana-like aromas and flavors.

16oz can from Tavour. Golden pour, light cloudiness, fizzy head. Malty, bready aroma, banana. Taste is spot on with the banana and bubble gum notes. The only knock id the lightness of the body and the weak head.

Draft at Craft Brewed. Pours a clearish gold with a finger of foam that lingers. Clove forward and banana estery nose. Banana bread with a bit of tang on the palate. Well-rounded on the palate, with more flavor and nuance than most American takes on the style. A nice lemony tang underneath the banana bread notes. Great stuff! --- Beer merged from original tick of Schnickelfritz on 27 Oct 2017 at 21:25 - Score: 7. Original review text: Clove forward and banana estery nose. Banana bread with a bit of tang on the palate. Really well done hefe, more European than American.

Draft. Hazy light gold body with a frothy, white head. Aroma of toasted grain, banana, bubble gum, lemon. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and lightly bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Banana and light clove taste. Solid take on a German hefe.

Draught @ Milk and Hops - Chelsea. Hazy dark yellow with small creamy white head, faint citrus aroma, medium carbonation, well balanced bread like taste with citrus flavor, thickish body, abrupt finish. One of the better hefeweizens.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of jcnielsen. I’m not going to lie- I’m excited as fuck to try this, but am a bit nervous based on the amount of homerism that occurs in STL. Here goes... Pours a cloudy yellow-orange appearance with a white head. Fairly spicy, huge phenolic, banana, clove, vanilla, a bit overly yeasty, lemon nose. Very spicy, chewy yeasty, clove/nutmeg, a touch tart citrusy flavor. Hmmm, not necessarily off, but the yeasty elements seem to be overdone. Not bad but not worthy of the 99th percentile in my opinion.

So I am currently at Busch Stadium watching my beloved Mets lose to my fiancé’s Cardinals. I am surrounded by a sea of red and everyone is too Midwest nice to give me shit for being a Mets fan, it makes things even worse. The bright side is that Urban Chstnut has their beer on tap here. Cost is $7.50 for a 16oz plastic cup. Pretty sweet deal if you compare it to 7 bucks for a Blue Moon. The beer pours with a nice thick head atop a thick golden body. Aroma is hefe banana with some grainy yeast knees. Flavor follows suit with very drinkable subdued banana esters ad sweet banana cream like graininess. By far the best beer I have ever purhased at a major league park. I don’t get this part, why is Terry Collins pinch hitting for the starter in the top of the fifth? He has only given up 4 runs. Are we is abundance of unworked relievers?
