In Mayan mythology, Hun Hunahpu was the father of the Mayan hero twins Hunahpu and Xbalanque. Hun Hunahpu, along with his brother Vucub Hunahpu, was tricked by the Dark Lords of the underworld and slain. Hun Hunahpu’s corpse morphed into a cacao tree, his head becoming a cacao pod, which in typically awesome mythology fashion, spit upon the hand of a young maiden named Xquic who promptly became pregnant with the hero twins. The twins would ultimately grow up to avenge their father and uncle and defeat the Dark Lords and ascend the heavens to become the moon and sun. Bottle, unintentionally kept for several years. Pours pitch black and a dark brown head that quickly disappears. Aroma's: boozy, brandy, umami, cinnamon. Retronasal there is fruity alcohol/brandy, cinnamon, light vegetal/pepper, light sweetish, roast. Flavour is moderate sweet, fruity/alcohol, light umami, dark chocolate. Peppery heat, possibly enhanced by the alcohol? Full bodied. Long finish, a bit herbal, light bitter.

Tap @ CBC. Pours a pitch black with a minimal creamy dark brown head. Most definitely the most beautiful beer Ive ever seen. Aromas of butter, toffee, chocolate, sweet dark berries, vanilla and brandy. Taste - oh, the taste. That thing about it being the most beautiful beer Ive seen - its also the best beer Ive ever tasted. Extremely dense, slightly spicy, roasted coffee, dark chocolate, apple pie, vanilla, sweet fruits. So oily and dense, I dont even. Sadly didnt get more than around 6ml of this amazingly well made beer. 9-5-10-5-19. Bottle. Pours pitch black with a thick creamy mocca head. God damn this beer is beautiful. Aromas of rum, cacao, coffee, vanilla, cinnamon, chili sweetness, dark dried fruits, coconut. Taste is roasted coffee, vanilla, slight coconut, slight cinnamon, dark chocolate, rum, spices, chilies, slight licorice, wood. Full body, medium Carbonation, slight chili afterburn. Perfect beer is perfect. Well, 4,9-perfect.

Bottle shared at Alex's Birthday. Pours a pitch black with a small beige head that dissipates. Barrel-forward nose with rum and brandy alongside chocolate, coffee and cinnamon. Apple and cinnamon and rum, oak and coconut as it warms on the palate. Loads of cacao nib, melted chocolate and cinnamon. Great barrel flavor with everything being noticeable. ABV is there, but not overly boozy. Lingering oak, chocolate and cinnamon on the finish with rum and coconut.

Bottle shared by Wickedestman, many thanks! Pitch black, viscous with beige head. Leathery with booze, apple brandy, cinnamon sticks and coconut shavings. Some chili heat in the finish.

Sample. Black, holographic red-brown lace. Extremely rich broad roast, chocolate, chilli, melted praline, peanuts. Still decadent sweets on the palate, dry chocolate, chili, wood, M&M's, almond cream, cinnamon, Apple brandy retronasal. Crazy shit.
