Side By Side with 2020 Spontantripleblueberry. Pours a shade lighter, but still very comparable dark purple. Medium sized, medium low stability pinkwhite head. Scent is showing a bit of age already - not problematic, but certainly unexpected after only 3 years. cardboard comes to mind - in small quantities. Fruit is fairly generic and silent, but thats just how blueberry is to me, in every beer. Some funk, even a bit of oak shines trough. Taste is tart, dry, bit agressive. Drying (astrigent) finish. 'lambic' funk is medium intense, wood is to the lower, but present side. (too) high carbo over a sharp body. Fruit is noticeable, but just doesn't pop to me like other fruits do. The blend works fairly well, though it's not the most complex of 'lambics' underneath. Enjoyable, but it doesn't need to be 8.4 % , or to be this expensive in comparancy to other beers in the style. As the triple version has more 'playing around' to it, being more extreme and thus unique, this one presents somewhat better balance and drinkability, but less unique selling points. It's somewhere in between your known and loved, balanced lambic - but isn't exactly replacing that - and the beauty-in-the-beast that is the triple version. From a quality perspective, i'd pick this one over the triple. As a consumer, I'd say this is 'neither fish nor flesh' , and pick the triple. Either way, interesting to put side by side !
Draught, taster. @Mikkeller & Friends, Copenhagen. 03/05/2023 [#6.092 Global - #328 Denmark - #75 Mikkeller] Pours hazy deep red with a small lacing pinkish head. Aroma: blueberry, redcurrant and oak barrels. Taste: acidic redcurrant, blueberry and vinegar. Oaky mouthfeel. Next one please!
Bottled. Rubyish purple colour with a mediumsized pink head, which disappears quite fast. Aroma is sour berries, some blueberries with mild funk and some tart wooden tones. Flavour is blueberries, black currant and some tea leafs along with some tart wooden tones with mild berry sourness too. Some mild alcohol sweetness too, which actually helps giving the beer a good mouthfeel too.
2020, tap at BGB. Murky purple body, pink head. Creamy, sourish aroma, more similar to blackcurrant thank to blueberry, hah. Funky, earthy, acetic, blueberry notes giving good tartness but subdued flavor, solid stuff!
37.5cl bottle. A hazy purple red beer with a light purple head. Aroma of tart red berries, blueberries, funk. Taste of blueberries, lactic fruits, mild sourness.
Bottle @ Burspraks Blindtasting. Pours deep dark ruby red/purple with a pink medium head. Aromas of blueberries, some oaky vanilla like notes, tart fruits. Taste is blueberries, tannins, sour notes, cranberries, vinegar. Jammy as fuckkkk.
