Rundes harmonisches Bier! 10/12/11/12/13/12
4 December 2022. Merry on the Prairie #2 @ Hal 16. Thanks, Jasper, and cheers to the crew!
Vintage 2018.
A: yellow apple, calvados, vanilla, wood, chocolate nibs.
T: sweet apple & pear, pure chocolate nib, wood.
F: tannic wood, apple, coffee roast, wood, warming calvados-like alcohol.
P: full body, oily texture, soft carbonation.
Barrel connects well with the base beer, quite elegant.
Finally! Yes, apple. But above all, a delicious snd smooth stout. Nicely thick, smooth mouthfeel and lightly boozy. Base gives nice amount of chocolaty roast, while the barrels add apple, wood, and some light fruity tartness. Nicely balanced, and tasty.
0.355l bottle from 'Beergium', bottled in May 2016, cellared for over three years. Pitch black with a thin, beige layer. Sweetish-malty, gently roasty aroma of praline, hazelnut, vanilla, some coffee and a touch of brandy. Fairly sweet, malty, gently roasty and a little fruity taste of praline, hazelnut, vanilla, mild coffee and brandy, followed by a long, gently roasty-bitter, quite warming and just a little boozy finish. Full body, smooth and oily mouthfeel, almost flat. Lovely beer, perfectly balanced, accompanied by delicious flavours from the barrel. Great Imperial Stout from Prairie again!
Bottle thanks to Vestergaard/Rasmusott. Thanks guys. Pours pitch black with a medium dark brown head. Aromas of green sweet apples, chocolate, oaky, apple cake, tobacco, fudge, vanilla. Taste has the some sweet apples, vanilla, dark chocolate, light tobacco, oaky, malty, big cakey finish. Different from what you’re used to in the Prairie stouts - very nice.
Bottle. Apples and booze, brandy, apple fritters, sweetness, caramel. Taste is great, subtle, apple, roast, sweetness, fruity, coffee.
Late
Definitely tastes like apple brandy. Super harsh and boozy
Bottle at Mikkeller Viktoriagrade, thanks to whoever bought the bottle for letting me try. Pours black. Chocolate, apple, toffee apple, caramel, dark chocolate, fruity coffee, pear. Good body. Very good.
The side of Pappy van Winkle works quite well with it.
