Alpaca Wat?

Hazy dull blond colour with thin head. Aroma is a little grassy and a little malty. Flavour is quite intense with a sweetness not similar to a classic Tripel. Lots of malt. Also a fragrant forest fruit note. Finish gets slightly bitter with some orangey, pithy notes.

33cl bottle from Bierwinkel De Hopduvel in Gent. F: medium, egg-white, average retention. C: dark amber to coppery, hazy. A: banana, floral, grassy, bit spicy, mellow fruity, camomile. T: medium to full malty base, banana, spicy, bit bready, juniper alcohol touch, peach, bit yeasty, soft carbonation, weak bitterness yet quite nice balanced, enjoyed.

Golden Tricky with a different hop profile, originally made for Belgoklubben, the Swedish drinks store of - among others - Belgian beer expert Jens Skrubbe, a long time acquaintance of mine; limitedly continued in Belgium now. Thanks Leopold for the 75 cl bottle - which opened with rather enthusiastic gushing, but beer loss remained limited. Inches thick, rocky, very much hops-enhanced, cobweb-lacing, very foamy, snow white head on a misty apricot-yellow blonde beer. Aroma of freshly cut grass and garden weeds, camomile, lime zest, moist white pepper, dough, apricot, raw pineapple, straw, bread crust, wormwood, halfripe banana, vague touch of gin. Fruity, estery onset, green banana and banana peel effect, unripe pear, peach, lively carbonation but nothing too harsh, still very minerally though; supple, pleasantly bread and bread-'crumby' malt body, ongoing esters and mild spicy phenols on top, but leading to a leafy, grassy, subtly zesty hoppiness, adding a long-stretched, tonic water-like bitterness to an otherwise softly bready and yeasty finish; a touch of warming, 'jenever'-ish alcohol shows up at the end too. Belgian hoppy blonde, a 'bitter blonde' indeed and in that sense falling well into the (real) Belgian IPA category just like Golden Tricky itself. Bit saison-like in its generale make-up, very drinkable and technically well-made. Liked it.

I Draught /I Huge, dense & fine, just yellowish head with textbook lace over clear metallic golden beer. NOA hops, spicy, dry but very present, garden weeds, greenmalt. Sweetish-bitter flavour, EU hops, and dry grains, herbs, beanflour. Vegetable bitter, weedy. Medium bodied, hopoil slick, good carbonation. OK, but not exactly inspiring.

Damn backlog, could've been first! :p
Clear pale blond beer, big solid creamy yellowish head, pretty stable, adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: way too cold, so hard to get a lot of smell... Even after warming up with my hands for 5 minutes. Getting some banana, fruity notes, sweetish impression, yeast. Quite the Belgian smell for an IPA? MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty bitter, yeasty, some herbs, dry, spicy touch, grapefruit, bit soapy. Aftertaste: bit sourish, hoppy touch, very bitter, some grapefruit, floral touch, some tropical fruits shining through in the end, nice bitter finish. Nice beer, but not the IPA I was expecting here. (If I understood correctly, this is a variation on the Golden Tricky.)
