9/I/2012 - 33cl bottle from Smetje en Zoon (Nevele) @ home - BB: 5/V/13 (2012-18)
Pretty clear rust brown beer, big creamy yellowish head, adhesive and stable. Aroma: sweet malts, caramel, bit fruity, some spices, nutty. MF: good carbon, medium body. Taste: bit sweet in the start, some caramel, spices, touch of sourness, cloves, some red berries, bitter, cinnamon. Aftertaste: spices, bitterness, bit medicinal, fruity, oranges.
Bright red-amber beer with a small beige head; medium carbonation. Very caramelly nose, with notes of parsley; bit of human sweat, coloured malts. Good dark malts returning in the mouth, and bitterish-bready(crust), without burnt, nor overly sweet notes - good balance. Dry hopping obviously worked, without conferring unwanted IPA-touches. Warming up, some less flavoursome oxydized malt notes. Medium bodied, slick, even refreshing despite the caramel overtones. Another one that is better than the sum of its parts.
