(And I have to cheat again with an very old sample. But then, this beer is so hard to get outside its region, that I had to get a forgotten one from the cellar. Unicbier is the only low-alcoholbeer that made it in the T. Webb GBguide for Belgium, as it is a tasty, unique product that has its place amongst Belgium’s classics. It HAD to be in our database.) Very lively carbonation to huge yellow head, fast dwindling; pale orange-amber beer, faint haze. Lots of biscuit-madeirisation in the nose, faint sourish aroma (obvious when young) is still traceable. Slight sweetish-nutty taste with a sourish tang. Bittery-spiciness from the young beer has gone. Still, it has al the character a typical nablab misses. Finish is two seconds citrussy-spiciness, then faint green apples flavour. Very light mouthfeel. The above marks might not seem high. Untill one realises it’s about a 3.2%ABV beer. This might be common for an English draught cask ale, for Belgian standards it’s exceptional. Try it if you see it. And take it home for the kids, to teach them quality beer in homeopathic doses.
