12/VII/17 - 30cl bottle from a Dutch supermarket @ home - BB: X/17 (2017-994)
Clear dark blond to orange beer, creamy off-white to yellowish head, little stable, non adhesive. Aroma: sweet, very malty, grains, caramel, some banana, bit of vanilla. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: sweet start, malty, grains, caramel, pretty sugary, unripe banana, bit yeasty. Aftertaste: soft bitterness, lots of banana, caramel, bit metallic, grains, little bitter, malty, cow fodder, very unpleasant beer. Did not like at all.
F: medium size, egg-white, almost average retention. C: deep gold, clear. A: malty, honey, cloves, herbal, hint of smoke, fruity. T: malty, orange, cloves, spicy, herbal, caramel, medium body, medium carbonation, straight commercial example for the style I think, 30cl bottle from Jumbo in Marknesse in Netherland.
0.3 l bottle from ’AH’ (Groesbeek), best before September 2017. Clear, golden amber with a medium large, frothy, slowly diminishing, white head. Sweetish, malty, slightly floral and quite yeasty-spicy aroma of honey, caramel and lots of clove. Quite sweet, malty and rather yeasty-spicy taste of clove, honey, vanilla, some caramel and hints of banana, followed by a short, moderately bitter, quite yeasty-spicy finish. Medium body, slightly creamy and moderately effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Drinkable, but more a Belgian Blond than a Bock, overall disappointing.
