Strong Barrel aged Sour Ale. The Abbaye de Saint Bon-Chien is a strong sour ale of mixed fermentation, aged during a year in old wine oak barrels. The oak aging and the action of wild yeasts confer this beer’s astonishing wide range of aromas. Its outstanding komplexity, balance, roundness and long finish, are the fruit of the meticulous blend of selected barrels. On the palate the blend reminds one of fruity red wines with a pronounced balsamic sourness. The best way to enjoy a Bon-Chien is to serve it in an elegant wine glass at 16°C or 60.6°F paired with a duck breast or some panned foie gras for example.

Bottled. Hazy copper colour, small white head. Aroma is oak, some vinegary acidity as well as fruity tones. Flavour is sweetish, fruity, wooden with a big time sourness and some vinegary acidity, but yet very nicely balanced with all the elements. A bit spicy tones. Long sourish berries/fruits in the aftertaste.

Bottled (From Alko Web). Hazy deep amber colour with a small off-white head. Aroma is fruity, really tart, some wood and mild spiciness with some alcohol sweetness to it as well. Flavour is really alcoholic sweet meeting a super tart fruity and wooden touch, ending up being a nicely balanced thing. Somehow there's a slight vanillaish edge to it as well.

Rerate down from 3.9 to 3.5 good beer but the acidity is too harsh. ___ Dark brown with no head. Aroma has red fruits and a little woody dryness. Flavour is super sharp and fruity. Cherries and forest fruits. Really deep and full flavoured. The 11% is well masked.
