Bottle from Shinanoya. Pours a clear, deep gold color with a finger of foam that lingers for a bit. Mango and peach come out nicely on the nose with some faint caramel notes in the background. More citrus on the palate with some light bitterness. Slightly soft carbonation with a creamy mouthfeel. Bitterness on the finish is restrained with some lingering orange zest. Nice and easy session IPA.
Tap @ BrewDog Clerkenwell, small sample. Hazy golden color, short frothy head. Aroma has some cookie, slight whisky notes even, bit flowery hop. Soft bitter in taste, cookie sweetness. Totally not what I expected next to the Ace of Citra. I even asked a bartender to taste it blind, and the first beer he thought of was the Ace of Simcoe, so it was the right beer being served. Strange.
Bottle, 10C. Slightly hazy amber with an inch of white head. Lush tropical and citrus aroma with mango, passionfruit and grapefruit. Some breadcrusts underneath. Lowish carbonation is nice. Light bodied, just avoids watery. Fruity with a little bread and menthol at the end. Bitterness is on the low side of moderate. Refreshing.
On tap in Chez Sophie on 12th July 2016. Misty, dull amber pour, creamy head. Hops lead the way in the nose, tropical fruits like peach and mango vie with a floral ester or two. The taste was also of tropical fruits and semi-bitter in nature. Decent.
Keg @ Chez Sophie, Shrewsbury. Clear gold, medium white head. Aroma is very light citrus, pale malts. Taste is extremely light in Simcoe, mirage-like zest, lightly biscuity. Sessionable, yes, but not a lot going on here.
Bottle. Golden color with white head. Aroma is piney, floral, passion fruit, peach. Taste is slightly toasted, resinous, bitter, a bit earthy, refreshing bitter finish. Medium carbonation. Rather light of course, but nice.
Tap at Keyaki. Nice Simcoe nose, biscuits, citrus, grapefruit. Crisp and hoppy flavor, crackery malt. Not so special but decent.
33cl bottle. Pours almost clear orange golden colour with a mid-sized most good lasting off-white head. Aroma of aromatic bitter hops, citrus, coconut. Taste of grassy bitter hops, citrus, lemon, some coconut, good!
