Bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown with a full 2 fingers of beige head that lingers. Lovely roasted malt aromas with tobacco, coffee and bready notes. Nice hop bite on the palate with dark chocolate and a peppery bitterness that lingers.
300ml bottle from Asda. Black with nice sized beige head. Plenty of retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, caramel, but what I wasn't expecting was the smokiness coming through. Thick body and low carbonation. Creamy sweetness to start and then a deep coffee bitterness with hints of smokiness. The alcohol comes through strong at the end. Lovely with bags of depth and flavour but definitely not an easy drinking stout, very much one to sip.
Bottle found in Montserrat. Pours carbonated dark brown with modest light beige foam, medium fake chocolate cake made tinny by too much carbonation. Flavour is molasses with coffee notes. Okay and full mouthfeel. Not exceptional but certainly a reliable and tasty enough stout.
Opague with a big brown head. Roasted malt aroma with pear. Roasted malt flavor with some sourness, which makes the beer remarkably refreshing. The 7,5% alcohol is absolutely not noticeable. Long roasted bitter finish. Lovely beer!
330ml bottle from Bien Manger. Pours opaque black with a decent-sized tan head that leaves some pretty lacing. Aroma is nuts, milk chocolate, toffee. Taste is light to medium sweet, dark fruits, cocoa, roasted malt, oats. Dry, moderately bitter finish.
Bottle picked up at off license near the hotel. Black pour with thick, foamy beige head. Aroma is smoky, ashy with a hint of chocolate. Taste is roasty, campfire, mild sweetness. Mild, sweet bitterness lingers.
Big bottle (Cameroon version). Pours dark brown-black. Aroma is roast, fruits, ash. Flavor is bitter, sour, slight sweetness, roast, malt, fruits. Finish is acidic and ashy. Overall: drinkable.
330ml bottle, Irish version. Pours black with a huge beige/tan head, great retention. Aroma of roasted malts and dark fruits and a bit of chocolate. Taste is pretty much exactly that as well, there's also a subtle warmth from the alcohol, some liquorice and a dry fruity roasty bitter finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation. Not bad.
