Bottle. Sour Ale with 3 years BA on Wild Turkey Bourbon barrels. Best Before date 01 April 2019. Color: Very dark ruby, very thin beige head. Aroma: Strong Bourbon with some dark and red fruit. Taste: Bourbon start, immediately followed by a complex and well balanced mix of Bourbon, vanilla, moderate to medium sweetness and moderate sourness, dark and red fruit, cherries, toffee, cocoa and oak. Finish is some Bourbon with stronger cocoa and somewhat more bitterness. Over medium body, low carbonation. Pretty unusual mix of flavors, but it works out well. BA Bourbon is overwhelming the sourness of the Sour Ale. I think Bourbon BA was more special when this beer was launced (2016) than it is nowadays. Overall a nice complex beer, although I'm a bit tired of all those Bourbon BA beers now the subtle sourness makes this one a bit different.

Sour bourbon, yay! Bit of tobacco, wood, tannins. Sourness is pretty hidden. Glad I could try it.

Bottle at tasting. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, red fruit and oak. Taste has red fruit, vanilla, oak, milk chocolate, mild sour cherry, caramelised malt and some cream. Thin body for such a beer. Nice tasty stuff, this works.

Bottle thanks to Lucas. Dark brown to black color, average sized white to off-white head. Smell and taste malts, sour mash, sour malts, some bourbon. Hate the sourness in this one. Not very nice imo.

Bottle shared at Jopenkerk. Black with a small off head. Aroma of plastercine, oak, fudge, caramel, toffee, beautiful caramel chocolate candy. Flavour is heavy sweet with just a touch of sourness at the back. Full bodied with soft carbonation. The alcohol is pretty well hidden and it comes out mainly like drinking a cadburys caramel. Great stuff!

Sampled from bottle at NHB 2016. Clear, dark reddish brown to black with a beige head. Sourish-fruity aroma of vinegar, red grapes, bourbon and oak. Sweet-sourish, fruity and quite boozy taste of caramel, vinegar, red grapes, wood and bourbon, followed by a medium long, rather tart, quite boozy finish. Medium body, creamy but also quite astringent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very interesting, love the combination of that sweet, malty base and the sourness, it’s only a bit too boozy, but three years (!) on the barrel take its toll.

33cl Bottle at Jopenkerk. Almost black colour, beige head. Aroma of full on glorious sweet whisky/bourbon, vanilla, caramel, hint of sourness but mostly just whisky. Flavour is medium sweet, malty, light acidic sourness, wood, whisky, vanilla, hint of red fruits, tart - bittersweet finish. Medium to full bodied. Nice.
