Bottle at the brewery. Aroma is full on coffee, taste is more nuanced, initial coffee, but afterwards more subdued. Bit of caramel sweetness, roasty. Very nice. Quite subtle. Don't get much Belgian, but I do get much deliciousness.
Bottle Black, opague. Coffee, dark chocolate and caramel in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor, with chocolate and coffee. caramel. Onedimensional, slightly alcoholic, but really nice to drink.
To me it seems more like a black coffee Stout Imperial Style on the label it says belgian-style black ale with coffee. I don't pick up too much of whatever the belgian-style is supposed to be. Aroma is Coco and dark roasted malts. Flavor is similar to nose very smooth and soft. A little coffee in there very easy drinking beer.
66cl Bottle from Vonk, tfs Marc! Dark brown to black colour, thin beige head. Aroma of sweet dark fruits, prunes, some coffee but not much, molasses, hint of plastic/yeast. Flavour is sweet, malty, dark fruits, molasses, hint of roast, some coffee, yeast, bittersweet finish. Medium bodied. Tasty.
Bottle at home a while back. Dark brown with a brown head. Coffee holds up pretty well. Aroma of coffee, chocolate, candy sugar, dried fruits, caramel. A hint of green pepper. Similar taste. Smooth coffee and chocolate. I enjoyed this more than I thought I would.
Tasting bij mij thuis. Volle soepele smaak, van alle koffiebieren tot nu de meest beheersde en mooist gebalanceerd. Haagse Hopjes! Pannekoeken met stroop! Lekkkaah!! Backlog from 2014/12/12.
Sehr dunkel rötlichbraune Farbe, geringe beige Schaumkrone. Geruch nach Kaffee, Schokolade, Gewürze, Pflanzen. Geschmack nach bitterem Kaffee, Vanille, geringe floral, hopfig.
Bottle @ Rooie Dop, medium sample. Dark color, medium head. Aroma of coffee, roasted malts, bit brown cookie, slight spicy. Didnt realise it was an imperial saison, as the aroma is dominated by dark malts and a bit coffee. Coffee is not really strong, but quite subtle. Soft sweet taste, bit bitter from the malts. Quite easy drinker, which is dangerous for 8.2%.
Black with thin head. Roasted malt aroma. Bitter taste. Coffee is there but not overpowering. Also some piney hop bitterness in the finish.
