Er was eens ...

Tripel from a hobby brewer in Olen, commercialized through De Graal. Very thick and foamy, egg-white, cobweb-lacing head on a lightly hazy orangey peach blonde beer with vivid sparkling. Aroma of honey, banana mush, caramel, old coriander seed, peach, grass, iron, apple sauce and light ‘rusty’ oxidation. Sweet, estery onset, banana, peach, pineapple, lots of residual, honeyishly sugary sweetness, medium fizz, smooth and slightly metallic mouthfeel; cereally, lightly caramelly malt sweet backbone, quite outspoken coriander seed soapiness towards the finish, warming ‘jenever’ –ish alcohol and straw-like, floral hop bitterishness, but only softly so. Another straightforward, sweetish and simple, yet correct tripel added to the already tripel-ridden Belgian beermap, with a story behind it more elaborate than the beer itself.

Clear deep blond to orange beer, big solid creamy off-white head, pretty stable, bit adhesive, leaving some lacing in the glass. Aroma: orange peel, bit sweet, very malty, some cow fodder, grains, rural notes. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: bit oxidised, sweet, malty, some almonds, grains, soft spicy touch, maybe cloves. Aftertaste: malty, ripe banana, bit sweet, hint of caramel.

Pours unclear blonde, rather big white head. Smell is yeasty. Taste is bit bitter trough the yeast, yeasty, but not to the extreme. Bit overripe fruit. Overall, still balanced. bit perfumed towards the back, but very subtile, and thus not bad.
