11 April 2022. At Volkshotel, Amsterdam. Cheers to the Teamleader crew!
Hazy dark brown, thin, foamy, tan head. Aroma of date, raisin, caramel, brown bread, syrup, prune, liqueur, vague toast. Taste has sweet date, raisin & plum in a caramelly malt body, bit toasty, herbal, spicy. Herbal hoppy finish with mocha note, dried fruit and spices, warming brandy-like alcohol. Medium body, sticky texture, soft carbonation. Not very refined but a pleasant sticky sipper.
Nice #dubbel
33cl Fles van Landmarkt/Ranzijn. Ze noemen het zelf een stout/dubbel maar dit is gewoon een hele simpele dubbel. Redelijk zoet, iets gebrand, fruitig, saai.
1,5 liter 'growler' (empty soda-bottle filled at the brewery) shared with Rick @ Rick. Clear brown to black with a thin tan head. Roasted malts and caramel aroma with some dark fruits. Taste is sweet with a low bitter finish. Indeed a tasty dubble/stout hybrid but leaning more to the dubbel side than the stout side in my opinion.
Bottle 33cl. @home poured into a shaker. Deep ruby brown colour, small frothy tan head, dissipates after a short while, heavy lacing. Aroma roasted malt, caramel, dark bread, chocolate, liquorice, fruity notes (dates, figs). Mild taste, medium sweet and light bitter, malty, caramel, chocolate, liquorice, fruity notes, some alcohol. Medium body, watery to oily texture, average carbonation, mild sweetbitter aftertaste, roasted malt, liquorice, fruity notes, light chocolate, really good effort this dubbel stout crossover.
Bottle. Dark brown pour. Aroma of caramelised malt, chocolate, licorice and coffee. Taste has sweet caramelised malt, chocolate, licorice, caramel, yeast ester and figs. More dubbel than stout, but still kind of a hybrid indeed.
Bottle. Caramel and a hint of roast in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with pear drups and coughing syrup. Tasty enough.
29 mar 2019 Sample of bottle at Bierproefavond DAVO bieren - Wijnhuis Ede. Color: Reddish brown, off-white head. Aroma: Caramel, raisins. Taste: In between an Abbey Dubbel and a Stout, Moderate sweet, medium bitter, roasted malt, caramel, notes of licorice. Over medium body, below average carbonation.
Black beer, small head. Aroma is roast, malt, chocolate, coffee. Taste is the same, bittersweet, dry, nice
Draft at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam. Fairly hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma of malt, yeast, figs, caramel and light overripe dark fruits. Flavour is above moderate sweet and light moderate bitter. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.
