Location: Bottle shared w/ jcos, 10/20/12

Aroma: The nose is somewhat hoppy, with some malts, fruit, coffee, and chocolate
Appearance: This one pours a dark brown color, with a light brown head and mid-heavy lace
Flavor: The taste of this one is light-medium sweet and decently hoppy
Palate: The body of this beer is medium, it is decently drinkable, slightly smooth, and has a medium dry finish
Overall Impression: Very solid, hoppy stout. I liked it. Three Floyds doesn't seem to miss all that often in my opinion, and this one is no exception.

Bottle @ home, courtesy of drfabulous. Thanks Jeff! Pours a hazy, dark brown appearance with a fluffy, deep brown head. Roasty dark malty, slight pinesol/cleanser, organic aroma. Burnt, roasty, dark chocolate malty flavor again with a piney, cleanser-like flavor and a bit of fruitiness. Some nice elements like some roasty espresso, but I am totally getting a cleanser flavor that I’m not fond of. I think it’s just that the hops are piney and sappy that I get the pinesol flavor. That being said, it isn’t that hard to drink.

Bomber shared by Kabutomushi. Nose of orange, lemon, big hops. A little bit of chocolate too, maybe. Black with lovely lace. Flavor is Belgian orange chocolate, roasted malt, coffee and wood. Light burn from the hops. Rich, thick body. A bit sweet. Is this really a black IPA?

22 ounce bottle into pint glass; no bottle dating but it is from this year. Pours a clear very dark brown color with a nice 2-3 finger fairly dense tan head with great retention that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Some nice spotty lacing on the glass. Aromas of big roasted malt, toast, chocolate, biscuit, coffee, pine, and herbal hops. Nice aromas with good strength and balance. Taste of chocolate, toast, roasted malt, caramel, coffee, herbal hops, pine, biscuit, and a touch of molasses. Good amount of herbal/pine bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, coffee, caramel, herbal hops, and pine on the finish for a while. Good hop to roasted malt flavor balance. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel. Alcohol is well hidden with only a slight warming after the finish. Overall this is a very nice and interesting dry stout style. Definitely a bit off the wall with the hoppy flavors; but it is nicely balanced and still has a good roasted character. Enjoyed this one.

Bottle shared with evanlarkin. Black, large variegated brown and tan head, solid lacing. Aroma of pine and dark milk chocolate. Taste resembles an espresso pot left on the burner way too long. Nice stuff.

Bottle thanks to Overml01. Pours dark black with small tan head. Nose is licorice and chocolate. Taste is one of the best licorice-centric stouts I’ve ever had. Subtleties include chocolate, caramel, toffee and roasted malts.
