Large can. Canned on 01/04/201. So old I take it? Which is a shame since I just got it and it just showed up in the shop. Very dark raisin / ruby brown with a mocha head. Nose is thinner roast, coco puffs bitter, oats, low chalk & dark bread. Taste is thin bark, almost chicory, some soy sauce, vague portobello, old chocolate cereal, oat, thin chocolate oat drink, lacking body, no cacao. Fairly thin & disappointing almost something you would expect from a macro brewery but there is also the age thing. Still this is supposed to have loads of Ethopian & Sumatran coffee.

Pours dark brown, beige bubbles on the top. Lots of roasted malts in the nose, blackberries and some wet roast malts. Coffee, lots of it. Taste brings out mainly coffee, creamy, roast bitterness, nice coffee character there. Chocolate and coffee. Tasty and quite thought-provoking beer.

Got in a trade with The-Adjunct-Hippie. 16 ounce nitro can into imperial pint glass, canned on 10/26/2017. Pours slightly hazy very dark brown color with a small dense light khaki head with awesome retention, that reduces to a small cap that lasts. Thick creamy lacing clings on the glass, with a light amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, smoke, char, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, coconut, cocoa, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of big nutty medium roast coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, and toasted dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of vanilla, smoke, char, herbal, grass, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/grassy hop and roast/char/coffee bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of nutty coffee, milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coconut, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, toasted dark/brown bread, light vanilla/smoke/char, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Awesome complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, coconut, cocoa, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roast/hop bitter/sweet balance, and zero cloying/acrid/astringent flavors after the finish. Lightly increasing dryness from lingering hop/roast bitterness. Light carbonation and medium body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky/bready, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol for 5.8%. Overall this is an awesome oatmeal coffee stout. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee, coconut, cocoa, and light earthy hop flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the very mildly bitter/drying nitro finish. Very rich and flavorful for the modest ABV. Awesome balance between coffee, cocoa, and coconut; with well rounded oatmeal stout malt complexity. Nothing is overdone or feels out of place. A really enjoyable offering, and spot on base style example.

Can - Strong dark coffee, chocolate and toasted coconut. Deep brown with a small beige head. Chocolate and cocoa with a light slick pallet. Not as good as the others in this series.

Bottle courtesy of GT2. Pours pretty blackish dark brown with a frothy pale mocha head that leaves some sparse spotty trace on the glass while dissiapting. Smell is malty, nutty and tiny fruity with roasted malts, burnt caramel, toasted oatmeal flakes, dark roast coffee, dark chocolate, toasted coconut, dried cherries, dried bilberries, moist soil and hints of ash. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, malty, tiny nutty and tiny fruity. Mouthfeel is soft, round, velvety, slightly roasted astringent and medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and bitter with roasty burnt malts, fruity coffee, bitter chocolate and coconut milk. Solid stout but wouldn’t have minded more chocolate and more coconut. --- Beer merged from original tick of Black House - Cacao & Coconut on 27 Mar 2016 at 15:43 - Score: 7. Deep brown color. Big cacao and coconut nose. The mouth has tons of roasted character. Fairly light bodied for a stout. Lingering cacao and coconut notes. Very nice
