American Style India Pale Ale. We used an American base malt with the addition of Caramalt to give this now classic style a redish hue. Mound Builder includes an aggressive use of Columbus hops, which is a high alpha hop with a full flavor profile, and Centennial hops. The beer is also dry-hopped with Amarillo hops, which is a citrusy hop with notes of orange and grapefruit. People’s Mound Builder IPA is a hoppy, yet smooth American twist on the English IPA

Draft at Chumley's in Lafayette. Caramel, toffee and pine aromas. Old malt on the palate with some cardboard flavors. Lots of sweet malt, cardboard and strong bitterness on the palate. More of the same on the finish. --- Beer merged from original tick of Mound Builder IPA on 01 Dec 2019 at 19:08 - Score: Appearance - 6 | Aroma - 6 | Flavor - 5 | Texture - 6 | Overall - 5.5. Bottle. Clear, deep amber body. Short, fizzy, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Malty aroma with notes of bread and caramel. Hint of raw grain, grapefruit. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Lingering bitterness into the finish. Medium body, creamy texture, moderate carbonation. Thick, raw grain taste against the resiny bitterness. A bit unclean and far from crisp. It could have used a little more carbonation. But it has a nice balance.
