Buttery roasted malt aroma. Full bodied, almost fat. Laurel and roasted malt in the flavor. Very malty, sweet, but enough other flavors to compensate. Lovely bock beer with enough finesse and complexity for added quality. The rating is well earned.
Bottle from an Edeka in Rothenburg. Pours hazy dark brown with a dissipating, foamy, off-white head. Enticing aroma of stewed plum, prune, caramel, pear syrup, jam, dough, candied banana, toast, chocolate, very faint iron. Taste is medium to heavy fruity sweet, lots of plum, yeasty banana, jam, some cake; never cloying and balanced by a light herbal bitterness, tea-like, faint spicy cookie; sourish prune & raisin in the back. Malty finish, faint herbal hops, spicy licorice & lingering plum. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation. This is a 'liquid cake', so flavourful.
17-12-18 // 500ml bottle from Getränke Stumpf. Deep brown, foamy beige head. Malty nose. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate, raisins, coffee bitterness. Creamy texture. Lovely Bock.
