Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Malt, chocolate, caramel and a hint of coffee in the aroma. Malty sweet, roasty caramelly flavor with coffee. Thinnish. Low on carbon. Slightly alcoholic. Pleasant, but not really complex.
Bottle. Black pour. Aroma has roasted malt, coffee and soft licorice. Nice taste of roasted malt, fresh spicey ginger, mocha coffee and a bitter spicey finish. The ginger works really well.
Bottle from het Biermoment, batch CHAR-400, BB 09-06-2017, large sample. Dark copper to brown color, medium frothy brown head. Aroma of caramel, bit butterscotch, orange, milk chocolate, slight spicy ginger note. Slight creamy texture. Bit chocolate and coffee bitterness, bit earthy, slight spicy ginger, some caramel sweetness. Ginger is quite present and although usually more often used in blonde beers, it does fit a darker beer quite well. Very nice experiment, I like it!
Bottle @ mitra beerexperience. Dark brown colour with a medium sized beige head. Smells ginger, anice, herbs, roasty. Tastes roasty, coffee, liquorice, slightly ginger but not too much actually. Pretty balanced. Medoum body, nice soft carbo.
Bottle @ home. Nice dark brown color, medium to full sized light to hazelnut brown colored head. Smell and taste malts, lightly a hint of roast, slightly sweet, a hint of liquorice wood, dark fruits, dried fruits, anise, quite bitter in the finish. Decent body and carbonation. Yeah I like it, another solid beer from Rodenburg!
Sample shared at the Hague beer festival. Thick creamy tan head. Clear black pour. Ginger and chocolate in the aftertaste. Pretty good.
Draft at The Hague beer festival. Pours dark brown with a beige head. Aroma of fruits, ginger, dark chocolate, roast and malts. Flavour is over moderate sweet and bitter. Above medium bodied with light carbonation.
