18th Jan 2013 finds me in New York and the Heartland tap under the ESB. I found this to be their beer that most suited my taste buds. Good colouring, red and clean, on top a beige head of foam. The aroma was malt infused nuts with caramel topped toffee apple. The taste was also on the sweet side , but the hops gave it a more semi-bitter feel after the roasted malts calmed down in the mouth. Flavoursome and most enjoyable.
Draught at Heartland (Empire State Building, NYC), on January 30, 2012Clear deep copper to brownish red color, off-white to tan head. sweet, malty, fruity taste. Some berry aftertaste. Medium to moussy mouthfeel, high bitterness. Fruity, berry taste.
Draught at Heartland Times Square, New York, NY. Mahogany colour, small head. Heavy caramel aroma. Medium bodied with clean, rounded mouthfeel. Fudge and caramel dominate completely, making it a one-dimensional one flavour beer. Slight salty bitterness. At least this one flavour is a fairly pleasant one.
Location: On tap at the 51st and 6th location of the brew pub
Aroma: Nose is nutty/sweet malts
Appearance: Medium red color
Flavor: Pretty bland compare to nose, sweetness is there
Palate: Medium body
Overall Impression: A pretty bland red ale, not bad, just not much there...
Light fruits, light hops, some bitterness, and caramel malts. Crisp and refreshing but not all that flavorful. It is beer, but thats about as far as it goes.
