Amber in colour, which after all is the traditional appearance of historical white beers, it has a higher volume of alcohol (6%) than the white beers we are familiar with. Having been created locally (1991), this white beer has long since burst out beyond the banks of the Grande and Petite Honnelle rivers whose name it proudly bears. Yet, Blanche des Honnelles steers clear of the well-trodden paths taken by some beers. Its taste is surprising and in no way comparable to the other beverages of the same type that are currently on the market. While relatively discreet on the nose, its initial flavour yields to an intensely dry bitterness on a peppery background. There is no acidity in this three-cereal white beer (barley, wheat, oats). Its taste is invigorating.

In 2019 the new 1979 label was introduced to commemorate the 40th jubilee of the brewery.

Strong grapes aroma, just a bit yeasty and chalky. Herbal, yeasty flavor with curacao. Just a bit of banana. The aroma is good, the flavor disappoints because the herbal yeastiness dominates.

0.33l bottle. Malty aroma, light yeasty and spicy notes. Hazy yellow color, foamy white head. Malty taste, spicy notes, light sweet, extra light sour and bitter. Full body, slick to oily texture, soft carbonation and malty light sweet finish with spicy notes. Good.

Clear medium golden colour, small fizzy white head, mostly diminishing, minimal lacing. Shy malty aroma, light fruits, caramel, yeast. Kind of flat taste, medium sweet and light bitter, malty, wheaty spicy notes. Sweetbitter finish, medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, lacks freshness and wheat-character.

Bottle at De Heeren van Liedekercke, shared with Anke and Pieter.
Pours hazy yellow with a small, lasting, foamy, white head. The aroma contains wheat, barley, coriander, lemon peel, orange and hops. It tastes light to medium spicy bitter and light citric sour into the (rather short) spicy finish. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Better than your average Witbier, for sure, but not something I would keep in my cellar by the dozen.

Pours unclear yellow. Decent sized white head, creamy, with a rather good stability. Smell is very weak. Taste is bit bitter, mild floral/spiced, bit of sweetness ( very little ) . Perhaps some coriander ? Mild esthers, overall pretty balanced though. Not really intense in flavor, and , as mentioned before, no real scent. making this an easy drinkin' beer I couldn't really get excited about. MF is medium, so is carbo. Not to much of the wheat to be found, accept perhaps a bit amped up creamyness. Didn't find the typical orange peel in this one. Earlier Rating: 7/21/2014 Total Score: 3.5At Barely Legal Tasting Room , thnx to ógí and Julio . Pours unclear yellow, ok white head . Smell is spices , coriander, lemon zest . Good carbo . Taste is grainy , bit sweet . Dry, a bit . Some spices , fresh . Not to special but certainly OK

Bottle, Hazy orange color with white head. Aroma is spicy, peppery, orange peel, some esters. Taste is wheat, spicy-peppery yeasts, again some orange peel, a bit bready as well. Rather dry finish, fizzy carbonation. Quite heavy for a Wit (as advertised), but it really has character. Nice!
