Bottle. Malty aroma and taste, light roasty notes, spicy notes, medium bitter. Medium body, malty spicy bitter finish. Good.
Pours deep cloudy reddish brown, small beige head. Aroma of sweet caramel, grain, dark fruits, yeast. Taste is complex with sweet full malts with caramel, stone fruits, yeast, dry. Moderate body and an almost spritzy champagne carbonation which to me emphasises the dryness rather than working in compliment to the body. I enjoyed it but think I need to come back to this one. I feel like I'm missing a lot of nuance here.
Bottle. Pours a semi cloudy dark brown with red hues. Slightly off white thick head. Aromas of yeast, caramel malt, raisins, booze and dark dried fruit. Taste is slightly alcoholic, pretty high carbonation, caramel, chocolate, dark sweet fruits.
Sweet porto aroma with raisins and apple. The taste is very sweet and fruity and a little bit tart. A slight porto burn is present. Bitter finish. Nice to drink, but real trappist ales are for more complex.
