Black Swan is a robust yet delicate, soft and complex blackberry Baltic Porter. We went a bit overboard on the berries and used 360kg of blackberry puree for 9000L! It's dark with a nice purple brown head. On the mouthfeel, we have a nice chocolate and sour fruity finish

Black with thin lacy head. Aroma and flavour are really fruity and juicy. The blueberries come through well. Behind the sweetness there's a solid Porter. Silky taste.

Pours very dark chocolatebrown. Medium large, creamy tanned head. Scent is sharp, roasty, typical porter, but noticably stronger indeed. Fruits aren't noticable just yet. Taste is rich. Fruits much more clear now, in perfect balance with the sharp roast that's typical for the style of the basebeer. Heavy, but not boozy. Could use a bit more body to me. Average carbonation.

Totally black. Smells like blackberry jam and dessert wine. Creamy with a nice body. Thin and boozy toward the end. It’s like a dessert beer with all of the blackberry cookie yeast flavors. Still delicious in small doses

27 April 2019. At Zythos Bierfestival. Deputy Taster: Anke. Cheers to Ama Deke, Erwin, John & Meeki! Hazy dark brown-black, very thin, beige head. Aroma initially makes me think of Dr. Pepper, apart from that: sour & liqueur-drenched cherries, ‘Ersatz’ chocolate, blackberries, ‘carré confiture’, dough. Taste is medium fruity sweet, equally sour, mixing cherries, blackberries, red fruit jam with dough & chocolate, touch of vanilla, only slightly bitter (nuts, toast). Dryish, earthy hoppy finish, lingering cherries & chocolate, subtle alcohol hinting at Maraschino liqueur. Medium body, slick-oily texture, soft carbonation. Bit of a weird mix but it goes down easily.

Clear dark brown beer, big creamy beige head, bit irregular, little stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: oh boy, super fruity, blackberry jam, sweet impression, soft roast. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: bit sweet, soft acidity, lots of blackberries, bit sugary. Aftertaste: soft roast, fruity, more sourish blackberries, bit sweet, bitter finish, roasted, jam, nice stuff! I'm really surprised about the low scores here... (60 overall/29 style)

Baltic porter with blackberries by BBP, bottle at Kantien in Ghent. Mousy, pale greyish beige, slowly diminishing and opening head, eventually reduced to a very thin ring, over a very dark reddish burgundy-hued purple brown beer, close to black in general appearance. Aroma of blackberry jam more than real and natural blackberries but not unpleasantly so, blueberry crumble, Ersatz chocolate, toffee, Liège pear syrup, dry tree leaves, dried prunes, ‘drop’, sugared tea, hazelnut, latte macchiato. Very sweet onset, sugary blackberry jam but with a light and refreshing sour touch, hints of fig, pear and plum, softish carb, very smooth, full, toffeeish malt body, milk-chocolatey and nutty with a light bitterish toasty edge, covered in treacle- and ‘drop’-like aspects and drenched in this blackberry jam flavour which remains more sweet than sour. Gently roasted bitter ending with a herbal aspect (hops, but something liquorish-like as well), lingering toffee and chocolate aspects and a hint of warming, but well-hidden alcohol. Fruit stouts and porters rarely do it for me but this was a very enjoyable one, probably because it focuses more on the sweetness of blackberry jam than the astringent tartness of actual blackberries, making it merge better with the sweet and nutty qualities of the malt profile. One I’d happily revisit.
