Aaron is our barleywine-style ale aged in bourbon barrels. Aaron A. Hill (1785 – 1869) was our great-great-great grandfather who operated the original tavern in North Greensboro. The Hill Farmstead Brewery logo is based upon that tavern’s original sign. In his honor, we crafted this barleywine, which has rested, unhurriedly and undisturbed, for over 2 years in bourbon barrels from some of our favorite distilleries, absorbing the essence of its surroundings and history.

Clear reddish brown beer, practically no head. Aroma: some vanilla, bourbon, little oxidized, some cardboard, caramel malts, chocolate. MF: ok carbon, medium to full body. Taste: sweet start, malty, caramel, very oxidized, little bitter, lots of bourbon, vanilla, caramel, pretty sugary. Aftertaste: bit sweet, bitter touch as well, vanilla, some milk chocolate, oxidized, orange peel, dry and spicy finish.

Bottle at bumba. Aroma of malt, raisin and sticky vanilla. Taste of sweet raisin, bourbon, molasses and malt. Good, but overrated, just as most hill farmstead beers.

2015/17 Aromat ciut rozczarowywuje moze, ale smak wynagradza. Slicznie beczkowo-figowo-melasowe w smaku. Faktycznie eleganckie piwerko. 4.4

taster at last night's share.Pours out a ruddy amber capped with a beige head. Sweet malty aroma, raisins,, woody notes, booze. Taste is a nicely blended sweetness, bourbon more prominent, nice feel.

The blend of caramel/toffee malts, dried dark fruits & bourbon barrel is insane. Lovely just as the 2014.
