19th January 2022, taster in The Church, San Diego. Came in a lovely glass. One of three Barrel Aged beers they had on from Lost Abbey, I had them all. Dark and lovely, cherries, raisins and sweetness abound in this cracking beer.
Snallygaster. Pours dark brown. Funk, biscuit, blackberry, prune, malt vinegar, red grape, little earthy. Medium body. Very nice.
Bottle thanks to Vestergaard, Lukasmh and Rasmusott. Thanks so much guys! Pours thick muddy reddish brown with a small fizzy white head. Aromas of dark fruits; raisins, prunes, dates. Sour cherries. Vanilla, fudge, oak, tannins, dark malt, caramel, filled chocolates, lactic, funk. Taste has sour cherries, sweet bourbon, tannins, vinous notes, red grapes, raisins, oak, lactic tartness, subtle barnyardy notes, dark malt, vinegary. Damn complex and delicious!
Troszke octu, ale takiego sympatycznego, duzo owockow, spora kwasnosc, tez jakies mile migdalowe, rodzynkowe slodkawe klimaty... mrau! Tnx Pan Lukasz :)
Bottle, thanks Jon. Lots of booze, lots of raisins, light fruitiness, bourbon. Full on in the mouth, fruit, Xmas cake. Lots of booze. Marzipan. Dark fruit.
2008 bottle from Schroppfy, thanks! Reddish dark brown color. Oak, malt, dark chocolate and cherries in the aroma. Odd mix of tartness, dark chocolate, the finest of cherry bonbons, licorice, oak and cherry liquor in the flavor. Very complex, strong and tart. Not a sign of the promised 11% ABV, excpt in the warming finish, but strong and powerful. And deceptively drinkable. World class beer. 2009 bottle, tasted @ UDRB, Oirschot. Malt, toffee and cherry in the aroma. Brett, lemon, chocolate and cherry in the flavor. Once again not a sign of the 11% alcohol. Lemon, cherry an brett in the aftertaste. Bitter almonds. lovely!
