Growler at RBSG. Pours reddish with white head. Nose and taste of tart fruits, oak, blueberry, vinegar, Brett and warm leather. Full mouth feel.
10th rater, officializing this shitznit. The beer looks pretty, hard for a fruit beer not to. The color is just like a blueberry with the skin removed; its that purple with hues of red color. Aroma is strong with blueberry jam and a wild, natural blueberry aroma. By wild I mean the wild-blueberries one would pick in the woods as opposed to the sweet stuff bought in a supermarket. With this wildness comes a natural tartness. The flavor has a nicely sweet blueberry flavor (not syrup) with a sharper tartness. The lambic-esque or sour ale characteristics are adding to the natural tartness and making it a nice component at this point. The blueberry and tartness linger for a while after the beer goes down the gullet and finishes very dry. I really liked this, had two glasses and wish I could have drank more. I have no idea where this 9% comes from, felt more like an average 4-5% brew. Bottom line: A natural tasting blueberry beer with a good tartness. Fun to drink for a while.
Draft @ 4th Ave Pub, served in a short, stemmed flute glass.
