Bottle from Morrisons. Pours dark amber, almost brown with creamy and frothy beige head. Darker than I remember actually. Aroma is quite hoppy, bit pine, but cat pee, and a bit of fruitiness too, some orange, and lemon. Little bit of stink too. Taste is initially bitter, but this fades into sweet toffee maltiness with just a hint of bitterness. Bit of a prickle in the mouth. Pleased to drink and enjoy the bottled version again, as previous to this I have had it on keg in a couple of pubs and been disappointed. Presume that the Brewdog bar won't have this problem. --- Beer merged from original tick of 5 A.M. Bottle. Dark amber color. Lots of grapefruit, melon and oily hops in the somewhat perfumed aroma. Thinnish but very tasty. Melon, oily hops, grapefruit, hint of toffee. Just loved this very drinkable beer.
Bottle. Hoppy aroma, caramel, resin, riped fruit. Tastes the same as aroma, medium bitter. Medium body, hoppy bitter finish. Good.
Another one over BBD14/08/18;no expectations on hop department;bready aroma, bread crust, low caramel, candy like sweetness/esters,hints of dry
26 June 2018. Sample at 't Taphuys, Tilburg. Shared with Anke.
Hazy amber with a small, frothy, off-white head; little lacing. Complex aroma of raisin, almond, caramel, cranberry, hay, herbs, grapefruit, sandwich, plum loaf. It tastes medium malty sweet, notes of caramel & raisin, and light herbal bitter, some hay & nuts. Dryish, herbal hoppy finish, bit grassy, grapefruity & nutty. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation. Complex, yet accessible.
A very good Amber Ale, heavy on the malt but with a nice hoppy balance.
