330 ml bottle, from Vinmonopolet. ABV is 6.0%. Black colour, large tan head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee and dark chocolate. Dry flavour with the same elements. Moderate but fairly distinct hops.
Bottle. Deep dark brown color. Dark rye bread and roast in the aroma. Roast, rye bread, a hint of smoke and red fruit in the sweet flavor. Loads of flavor, loads of hops. Good beer.
33 cl. bottle @ de Zomer, West-Terschelling. Pitch black with a small beige head. Roasted malts, chocolate and Cherries in the aroma. Taste is medium bitter with a long bitter finish, highlighting the cherries again.
Black beer, medium to large head, malt, roast, coffee, some hops, taste is the same, bitter dry, nice.
330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Dense, tan-coloured head leaving lacing rings down the glass. Jet black in the glass. Rather restrained aroma of liquorice and bread, roasted. Mixed taste of grainy chocolate, liquorice, pine, and dark bread followed by roasted malt bitter ending. Well bodied. Nice. (Tromsø 09.04.2018)
0.33l bottle. Malty and hopy aroma, cofee, roasted mals. Black color, beige head. Malty and hopy taste, chocolate, coffee, medium bitter. Medium body, slick texture, soft carbonation and malty bitter finish with coffee notes. Good.
Can't believe I haven't had this one. Anyway. Bottle @ home. Black colour with a small beige head. Smells roasty, hops, chocolate, hint of liquorice. Tastes roasty, happy, bitter, chocolate bitterness, some dark chocolate. It's not a black ipa where either the roastyness or the hops is too extreme, but they've found a nice balance. That does make it a nice black ipa but it also makes the beer a bit forgettable. Medium body, nice carbo. A good beer without any big flaws.
Tap at the source. Pours pitch black with some thick brown foam on top. Looking neat. Aroma is roasty but balance between hops and the roast character is very well taken. Juicy, lots of black berries in the taste, some chocolate and roast, still easily drinkable. Very enjoyable, could be one of the best Black IPA's I have tried.
