Location: Bottle shared at Max and Andy's Tasting, 2/28/15

Aroma: The nose has a nice tropical fruit hop melded well with the oak/vinous notes
Appearance: It pours an orange color with an off-white, mildly pink head on it
Flavor: Tastes much the same, with the hops, oak, and other flavor all playing nicely together
Palate: The body of this one is medium and it has a somewhat dry mouthfeel
Overall Impression: I found this one really good. The hops are prominent on the nose, but the other components provide excellent complementary tones. The whole combination works nicely and makes for a very nice overall beer. One of the standouts from the tasting for me.

12 ounce bottle into tulip glass; no bottle dating, but is a recent release. Pours lightly hazy deep orange color with a 1 finger dense off white head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Nice spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, oak, tannic red wine, honey, light vanilla, light pine, floral, grass, and floral/oak earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/tropical hops, wine barrel, and moderate malt sweetness; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon zest, orange peel, oak, vanilla, tannic red wine, pine, honey, floral, grass, and floral/oak earthiness. Good amount of pine/grassy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, pineapple, lemon/orange peel, pine, oak, vanilla, red wine, honey, and floral/oak earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops, wine barrel, and moderate malt sweetness; with a great malt/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, fairly crisp, and lightly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is an awesome wine barrel aged IPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/tropical hops, wine barrel, and moderate malt flavors; and very smooth to drink for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.
