Pour from bottle @ Mikkeller Bar Aarhus thanks to Rasmus40. 1999 vintage. Cork was all purple. Mhm! Pours a light hazy golden with a small fizzy white head. Aroma is veryyy funky, barnyard, leathery, musky, vinous funk, grapey, green apples and woody notes. Taste is tart fruity, dry, sour, barnyard, leathery, green grapes. Nice! Very complex.
Vintage 99. Aroma has pear, lemon, lychee and oak. Very sour flavor with pear, yoghurt, fresh cheese, lemon. This geuze is amazingly fruity, and, in spite of the mouthpuckering sourness, softer than you might expect. I understand now why Belle Vue hides this beer from the crowd. If they get to know this beer nobody buys their normal crap. Another tasting @ the RBESG in Sheffield showed that this beer has mellowed down a bit over the years and has further gained in complexity.
Troszke ucieklo w ocet i korek, ale tez fsjne piwnicznosianowate klimaty., sa tez owocki... za agesywne octowo? Ale i tak najs zlozonoscia
Bottle, courtesy of Mats, thanks! Vintage 1999. Pours unclear amber. Aroma is pure horse blanket, hay, soft berries, oxidized but not too much. Body is medium, strongly sour but not tart, low carbonation but not lacking. Complex, but not overdone, maybe a tad too old. Not dead, though. Good!
1999 bottle, many thanks Mats! Clear deep orange color with no head. Aroma is berries, vineous, parmeggiano, horseblanket. Taste is horseblanket, a bit of everything, vinegary, but not too much yet. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. Held up well!
gold, white head: lemon, oak, tart vinegar, funk. 4.1
Gold, white head: lemon, funk, oak, vinegar tartness. 4.0
Sampled from bottle shared by Kurt @ Belgium in a Box. Thanks! Unclear orange color, no head. Aroma is quite fruity with slight tart hints. Flavor is very strong, acidic, very sour and sharp unripe fruits. Hmm once you get used to it it's pretty nice but for me personally the sharp sourness is too much.
Bottle courtesy of Carl. 1999 vintage. Hazy tiny burnt orange pour with a frothy white head. Heavy oxidized lambic nose. Lemon, green apples, horse blanket & barnyard. Heavy sour light fruity taste. Dry, tart & light puckering mouth. Simple sour finish. Holds up ok but I’m sure this was better at a younger age.
