Big time smoke, like drinking in a campfire. Exactly how I like them.
Half at taproom. Medium brown pour, fine skin of head. Smoky aroma, nutty, hint of sweetness. Toasty, smoky flavor, campfire, woody, light sweetness. Solid rauch.
On tap at the brewery. Pours a clear copper with small white head that diminishes to nothing. The aroma is smoke, ash, wood, peat. Medium body, similar flavors nose, light dry finish, good.
Growler from beerbeggar. Completely clear pale straw color. Clean, clear smoke. Very clean white cracker maltiness. Flavor is less smokey, more mineral lager with a seltzer like mouthfeel. Just a hint of sweet smoke at the end. Short aftertaste.
Draft - Great sweet smokey malts with a touch of manure. Cloudy dark brown with a small white head. Sweet malts, raisin and nice smoke with a light bitter and sweet finish.
Draft - pours amber white head - nose/taste of cherry smoked wood, light bacon and caramel. Incredibly well balanced - medium body
