Pours a fairly deep-colored gold. Scent is - to my surprise- more balanced than the original. cinnamon, and though I usually dislike that (in beer) this one does work. it's like smelling a coockie. some sweet impressions from the base mead, but i'm saved from the overly dried-herbal nose the original had. Taste is fairly full, expressed but balanced sweetness. Rather funky honey. Cinnamon is balanced, the herbs are absent ( or my palate is just killed by that original) which I do like. balance is key ! I truly believe this is the first time I think the cinnamon could be amped up in taste, to improve it even more, as the honey does take quite a lot away from the cinnamon (in the taste, the nose has great balance) . Lovely mead. not overly complex or anything, but well-made.
