500ml bottle. Dark brown almost black colour with a two-finger tan head. Aroma: roast, smokey malt, hint of chocolate. Taste: smokey roast malt, caramel, dark fruits, slight hint of chocolate perhaps. A little sweetness from the fruity, malty flavours with a bitter smokey finish and aftertaste. Medium body, low carbonation. Not a fan of smoked beers generally but this one wasn’t at all overpowering, nicely done.

500 ml botle at the Hoppy Pub, Thessaloniki. Black color with light beige head. Malty aroma, roasted, coffee, licorice, chocolate, caramel, some smoked notes. Sweet and bitter taste. Light to medium oily body with soft carbonation.

Bottle from real ale store, Newark. Black colour with a tan head. Aroma is peaty smoke. Taste is very smokey with a touch of toffee.

Pours a deep brown color, topped with a medium sized beige colored head. Initially mild smokey aroma, bacon quality, that develops more chocolate and caramel notes later on. Also some mild roasted coffee presence. Bod is silky and creamy, mild caramel sweetness matched by very gentle roastiness. Not a big fan of smoked beers, but this one is simply great.

500ml bottle, as Smoked Winter Porter, from Systembolaget Kiruna, via djoeye. Shared with Finn Arvid and Skinnyviking. Good looking with its golden neck, and two-finger thick, fawn-coloured head leaving crocheted lacing down the glass. Jet black body. Smoked malty nose added by brown malts. Mild smoked malty taste supported by oak and raisin followed by a dried fruity ending. A fine balanced beer, medium bodied. (Tromsø 17.01.2015).

Bottle. Almost clear almost black liquid with small tan head. Aroma of smoke, licorice, light ash, bread and light coffee. Taste is light sweet and light bitter with notes of smoke, licorice, raw sugar and light ash. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Decent.

Flaske 500ml fra Systembolaget, Kiruna. Drukket i Skibotn 25 Des 14. Svart med et middels høyt mokkafarget skum som varer en god stund. Tynn lacing. God aroma av røyk & sjokolade. Ikke påtrengende. Smaken er mest røyk men også sjokolade & lakris. Tørr ettersmak med hint av karamell.

Clear dark brown beer, big aery beige head, pretty stable, bit adhesive. Aroma: bit smoky, floral, dried fruits, caramel, sugary touch. MF: soft carbon, medium body, smooth texture. Taste: caramel, bit smoky, hoppy bitterness, mocha, more smoky, pretty roasted. Aftertaste: bitter hops, coffee, nice smoke notes, caramel, bit of chocolate, hoppy finish.
